“ Takagi on 3rd Street is such a gem! The coffee is excellent—smooth, rich, and truly delicious. I ordered the burger, Japanese omelette, and tofu salad, and everything was flavorful and comforting—just the kind of food that warms you up inside. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the prices are on the higher side. But if you’re looking for quality Japanese-inspired comfort food and a great cup of coffee, it’s definitely worth a visit! ”
“ This place is a must try. It has a very large pour over coffee menu that rotates over time. I ordered the breakfast with 2 pancakes, eggs, bacon, and a small salad. The pancakes are light, fluffy, and really good. Eggs were perfectly cooked. We sat outside with our dogs and they brought a bowl of water the dogs really enjoyed. ”
“ We got in after a 2 hour wait, but once we got back we had amazing service. Food and coffee came out within 15 minutes of ordering. We ordered the regular pancakes, pork cutlet, fried chicken and a cafe latte (also a caramel latte). Star of the show for me was the fried chicken which was crispy yet super easy to bite into and so juicy. The pork cutlet was ok but isn’t anything special. The pancakes were very fluffy and a good treat to complement the savory dishes we ordered. The cafe latte was really good, but I thought the caramel latte was a little too sweet for my taste. Overall a wonderful experience, would come again! ”
“ What a gorgeous Japanese cafe with excellent coffee lineup and delicious Japanese food that taste close to authentic Japanese cuisine! My friends and I went in for an extensive coffee tasting session, with each of us ordering an espresso, as well as 5 cups of Hario pour-over coffee cups. The espresso is quite good, with a slightly earthy nutty flavor that is slightly sweet (7.8 out of 10). Our consensus favorite coffee was the Kenya Peaberry Ngemwa that has a very nice clean woodsy, slightly flavor (8.5). The worst was the Costa Rica Hacienda La Pradera (6.5) since it has a bit of a "flavored coffee taste" that was just OK. The middle three are split for each of us, with me placing the Ethiopia Queen City Harrar as second (8.0), Organic Honduras COMSA as third (7.6), and the Premium House Blend as fourth (7.0). We all ended up buying a 1lb bag of the Kenyan coffee for a surprisingly affordable price (for a premium coffee) for 17. That's 17 for 1 lb bag that is roasted then and there for you! As for the food, two of us was just in Japan last year and we both agreed this is pretty close to authentic as it get for Japanese comfort food that is NOT ramen or sushi. The Omurice (omelette rice) is quite fluffy and the rich demi-glace sauce is delicious. The Hamburg steak is also very good and filling. The millefeuille pancake is not as dense as regular pancakes, and is pretty good but not as much of a standout. Overall, this was a pleasant experience for both Japanese food lovers and coffee lovers. Will be back again! ”
“ Stopped by for lunch on a busy Saturday. Didn’t wait terribly long even though it was packed both inside and outside, and there was a relatively short queue. Food service is surprisingly prompt after ordering. I found that the pork cutlet sandwich was exceptional, and really reminded me of Japan. The sauce was definitely the star of the show, but the pork was excellent as well. The mango smoothie also was delicious, especially on a hot summer day! Looking forward to trying those pancakes next time! ”
“ A lovely cafe brunch spot. The souffle pancakes are the must-have here - very fluffy and more like sponge cake texture and taste. Loved the flavoring of the omurice, just wished a thicker layer of omelette. We came early on a weekend morning and not very busy. ”
“ We were here on a Saturday morning, the waitlist was okay. We waited for around 15-20 minutes. The food was fantastic. The server told us the pancake is freshly made so it could take up to 30 mins but it came faster than we expected. The pork cutlet sandwich was the right balance between the tangy sauce, milky bread, and juicy pork cutlet. Overall, this experience was amazing and I’d definitely come back to try another flavor of pancake or the Japanese-style pasta next time! ”
